Chlordiazepoxide is used to treat anxiety and acute alcohol withdrawal. It is also used to relieve fear and anxiety before surgery. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines which act on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. Do not double the dose to catch up. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.

This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, constipation, blurred vision, or headache may occur.

If you stop taking Chlordiazepoxide Tablets.

Chlordiazepoxide Tablets can cause reduced alertness, drowsiness, blurred vision and dizziness, especially after a change in dose. If you are affected in this way, do not drive, use machines or take part in activities that may put you or others at risk.

The maximum dose is 100 mg per day taken in divided doses throughout the day.

Chlordiazepoxide is used to relieve anxiety and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal. Chlordiazepoxide is in a class of medications called benzodiazepines.

Do not drink alcohol or use street drugs during your treatment. Drinking alcohol or using street drugs during your treatment with chlordiazepoxide also increases the risk that you will experience these serious, life-threatening side effects.
